Where are the Workshops Held?

Workshops are held in The Bakery Rooms – our workshop located at the back of Home Industry, 62 Darling Street, Balmain East NSW 2041.

Who will be teaching the class?

Pat has been restoring and upholstering furniture for over 30 years, previously teaching at TAFE, and will be instructing the class on the day. Assisting on the day will be either Simone or Martine (sometimes both).

What is the Class Size? 

Class sizes are kept small, usually 4 to 6 people – so with at least two of us there on the day, you get lots of individual instruction during the workshop.

Is My Chair Suitable?

To ensure the chair you have chosen to bring is the correct style for the workshop, we will require you to email us a photo when booking.

Chair Condition:

We will not be addressing any structural or timber restoration in our workshops, only the upholstery.

Sewing:

We will not be teaching skills such as making piping or anything requiring a sewing machine in our workshops.

What to Bring:

You will need to bring your pre-approved chair and your chosen fabric. Please also bring lunch, or be prepared to purchase from one of the nearby cafes.

Fabric:

Your fabric needs to be upholstery weight for durability. We have a selection of fabric and remnants for sale in store or if given enough notice can order in fabric for you. Please call or email to discuss.

Are Materials Included?

Yes, materials required for the upholstering of your chair will be provided on the day. Of course we love recycling, so if for example your chair has springs that are in good condition, we will reuse them. You will also receive a basic take home tool kit and afternoon tea will be provided.

What is your Refund Policy?

If you can’t attend a class for any reason, refunds are not available due to our small class sizes - so please assign a friend to take your place and email us to let us know of the name change.

Cancellations:

We have class minimums and in the case we don’t make them we will notify you as soon as possible. If we need to cancel a class for any reason, we may do so at any time before the class is scheduled to begin. You will be offered a full refund or you can choose to attend another class of the same value (or plus or minus any difference in class fee) within a 12 month period.
